Opportunities

“Opportunities are never lost, they are just found by someone else.” –Dexter Godfrey

Opportunities, yes, that’s this week’s message. I heard that quote a few weeks back while I was attending the John Maxwell Team Certification Program. It really resonated with me and actually it keeps coming up as a lesson for me and others.

Why is it that we focus on what’s not going right, on a problem that needs to be fixed, or how is everybody else doing it? When really our opportunities are right under our nose, it’s what’s going right for us. It’s what’s positive in our life. It’s our strengths that we bring to the table that is our opportunity. That’s what we need to keep focusing on.

Do you make the time to focus on what’s going right? Do you know how you are showing up in the world? What are your values, character traits, and strengths? That’s what I do. That’s what I help other people do. It’s what I am continuously doing for myself, the inner, reflective work.

I would love to know your thoughts about opportunities. What is your focus on a daily basis? Because really, opportunities are never lost, they are just found by someone else. Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com

Travel Light

“Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light.” –Yogi Bhajan

Travel Light? Yes, that is this week’s message. If you want to travel far and fast, travel light. Unpack all your resentment, anger, fear, rage, and learn to forgive.

Last week I was telling you about “Leading A Life Of Harmony” and it got me thinking. Where does it begin? For me, it begins with forgiveness. Forgiveness can give you that personal peace. What matters most in life is what happens “IN” us not “TO” us.

I would love to know your thoughts. Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com

One more thought, I know that forgiveness won’t change the past, but I believe it will enlarge our future.

Are You Willing?

“You can have anything you want if you are willing to give up the belief that you can’t have it.” –Robert Anthony

Are you willing? Yes, that is this week’s message. It comes to you for a couple of reasons. First, my daughter had her very first speech in her Public Speaking class (makes a mama proud). She was telling me about the speech and how well it went. She said she talked about her parents and how supportive we were. She also spoke about how one of the most important things in her life, was how her mom (that’s me) told her that she could be anything she ever wanted to be.

I believe that. I believe we can. We have to be willing. We have to be willing to stick with it, willing to learn, willing to take the up’s and down’s.

I am on a path. I am on a journey. I believe I have a powerful message to share with the world. I want EVERYONE to Lead a Life of Harmony, to have congruence, consistency, unity and peace. If that is something that sounds interesting to you, JOIN our group today.

I want to know your thoughts. Are you willing? Can you be whatever you put your mind to?

Life is a Lot Like Tennis

“Life is a lot like tennis. Those who don’t serve well end up losing.” –John Mason

That is this week’s message. It’s all about serving others. Certainly I am not the first person to talk about this and I definitely won’t be the last. I bring this up because this concept and topic, although not new to me, have been swirling around in several trainings I have attended recently. To always remember, it’s all about the other person.

Service comes in so many different ways. One way is just by praising others. Lifting people up and guiding them so that they use their gifts and talents.

Here’s the funny part, this concept culminated when I was watching the “Lego Movie”. Have you ever seen this movie? The theme song is “Everything is Awesome.” The main character is an “ordinary” construction worker. In the movie someone believed in him, he was told he was the “chosen one.” Therefore, he was doing everything possible to come up with ways to solve their main problem. That really was all it took, having another person believe in him.

While I was doing some more research on this topic I found this great article that was written back in 2015, “7 Secrets of Servant Leadership That Will Lead You to Success” by Peter Economy. I especially loved when he said servant leaders listen intently and observe closely.

I would love to know your thoughts; do you think life is about serving others? Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com

Better or Worse

“Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” –J.M. Barrie

Leave everyone better than you found them, that’s this week’s message.  It comes to you from one of my favorite books, Be Yourself by John Mason. This morning, as I normally do, I picked up a book and I randomly opened it up to a page, Leave Everyone Better Than You Found Them. Naturally this message happens to relate to something that happened this past weekend.

We were moving in my older daughter into her apartment. You pay for the entire month yet don’t get to move in for 3 weeks because they are supposed to clean the apartment from the last residents. I’m not going to get into the details. Needless to say it does not look like anyone cleaned it. The living conditions were less than ideal.

I walked into the office the moment it was opened. I could tell that the woman behind the desk was a little on edge. Maybe I am not the first person who came to her with this situation? At that moment, I choose to leave her better than I found her.

After you have interactions with people, do they feel bigger or smaller? Better or worse? Do they feel faith or fear?

I would love to know your thoughts, are you leaving people better than the way you found them? Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com

Just Breathe

“Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath.” –Unknown

Just breathe, that’s this week’s message.  I bring it to you because, personally, I don’t know about you, I feel like I haven’t been able to REALLY take in those deep breaths.

My sister is working in Rio, my family and friends are out on the road traveling, and I am personally connected to someone who is going through the devastation of the floods in Louisiana.

Can you relate? Do you have situations that are causing you not to take in those deep breaths?

I wanted to send you this message because breath is a gift. In most cases we don’t have to think about breathing because our unconscious mind is taking care of that function. I feel like it’s the deep breaths that we really should take in whenever possible.

Be present. Just Breathe. It means we have another day to take another step forward, no matter how big or small.

I would love to know your thoughts. Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com

10 Minutes

“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.” –Michael Althsuler

10 Minutes, yes, that’s this week’s message.  When I say that, does it sound like a long amount of time or a short amount of time?

Here is this week’s video along with the transcription.

I bring this concept up to you because I was on my walk and I usually do a 30 minute walk. When I was done it was 6:20am. I felt like, I have 10 more minutes, 6:30am feels like a better time to finish walking. I walked 10 more minutes and what do you know, it was 1200 extra steps! (very important to a FitBit fanatic) I was so excited about this concept.

I have been taught that if you work for 50 minutes straight, without any interruptions you can get so much done. Then after 50 minutes you should take a 10 minute break.

What are you doing in those 10 minutes? Do you know how much you can get done? You could call a friend and say hello. You could color in a coloring book. You could walk and get 1200 steps. Imagine if 10 times a day you walk for 10 minutes, you would have over 10,000 steps!

I would love to know your thoughts about 10 minutes? When you hear 10 minutes do you think it’s a long amount of time? Or a short amount of time? Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com
