The Mission

“Outstanding people have one thing in common: an absolute sense of mission.” Zig Ziglar

The mission, yes that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as I’ve been on a mission the past few days to take back my office.

I realized 5 years ago I had decided that we needed a guest room. We were having our nephew come to visit. The solution, put a bed in my office.

It’s been in my office ever since. Not to say that people haven’t used it, but my husband reminded me, if we have a guest come to visit, one of our daughters doesn’t even live here anymore.

That shift in thinking launched me on a mission to take back my office. Have you ever been on a mission and it seems to be getting worse before it gets better?

I don’t even know where half this stuff came from, but I am on a mission to either find it a home or let it go.

As I try not to get overwhelmed, my friend Nancy reminded me of all the treasures I am finding while on this mission.

One of the treasures, besides the cute pictures of my girls when they were younger, was a piece of paper with this statement on it:

“To love whole heartedly, to learn with an open mind, to teach with inspiration”

I’m not even sure when I wrote it. The cool part is, it still applies today.

I guess I’ve always had a mission. It may not be written right in front of me, but it IS what I’m doing.

If you want to know more about my current mission, I talked about it in our group, Leading A Life Of Harmony, you can join the rest of the conversation over there.

I would love to know your thoughts about being on a mission. How does it go for you? Does it get a little worse before it gets better?

The Pause

“Practice the pause. When in doubt, pause. When angry, pause. When tired, pause. When stressed, pause. And when you pause, pray.” Unknown

The pause, yes that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as I purposely made time to pause.

To put a pause on my life. To just BE. Be in the moment. In quiet. In solitude with my thoughts.

I did this for an extended period. I realized there is such power in this practice.

Where is the rule book that says we must keep going, and going, and going until we have no more fuel?

MAKE the time to pause, to reflect. It will refresh your life. I really believe in pausing and putting pen to paper.

If you want to know more about the specifics and some techniques I use on a daily basis to harness the power of the pause, I talked about it in our group, Leading A Life Of Harmony, you can join the rest of the conversation over there.

I would love to know your thoughts on the pause.  Do you make time for it? Or are you forever going and going until you just can’t go anymore?

The Meltdown

“It’s okay to have a meltdown just don’t unpack and live there.” Unknown

The meltdown, yes that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as I ponder on the meltdown. The meltdown that I had this past week. Thankfully I came out of it better and stronger. If I’m being completely transparent, it wasn’t fun.

Great news, I learned a few things.

First, you can’t keep everything inside. Eventually something will trigger you and you’re going to blow.

The next thing I learned, no news flash here, change is inevitable. Change is always happening, and we get to choose how we walk through that change.

Finally, I was faced with my very question that I like to ask you, What If It’s Better? I can tell you, I am pondering that question right now and I will let you know when I have the answer.

If you want to know more about the specifics of the meltdown, I talked about it in our group, Leading A Life Of Harmony, you can join the rest of the conversation over there.

I would love to know your thoughts on the meltdown.  Have you ever had one? How have you been able to walk through it and come out better?

Hope

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Helen Keller

Hope, yes that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as those of us here in the United States are getting ready to embark on this week of thanksgiving. Normally I would be talking about being grateful and thankful. Of course, I am grateful. Of course, I am thankful. I choose to put all of that under the umbrella of HOPE.

Hope is an optimistic viewpoint that you expect there to be a positive outcome. One thing for sure in life is change. You can choose the umbrella of hope where you expect there to be a positive outcome.

I ask myself this question all the time, what if it’s better? I get it we make plans. We decide on this great goal and sometimes it doesn’t go the way you want. If you are living in a space of expectation and hope, then the outcome can be better.

I would love to know your thoughts on hope.

Life Is Exponential

“Life really can be exponential. You are far closer to everything you want than you could ever imagine. Miracles are far closer than you think.” Rich Litvin

Life is exponential, yes, that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as I made the time to have a new view with a new perspective. You don’t necessarily need to leave where you are to get that new view, that new perspective.

What I realized is you are closer to your dream than you know. Miracles are around every corner. Life IS exponential. What you focus on expands.

I know, I know, I’m giving you many concepts and one liners. The reason is, I believe them.

Where are YOU placing your focus? What is growing exponentially? Do you need to PAUSE, get a new view, a new perspective?

I would love to know your thoughts about life is exponential and what you focus on grows.

I’ve Got A Question

“Heart to heart conversations are the best to me. Everyone’s vulnerable. Vulnerability attracts honesty, honesty attracts soul connections.”

I’ve got a question for you, yes, that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as I realize I’m addicted to asking questions.

The reason is, I want to know more. I want to know what’s really going on. Usually it takes a while for someone to be open and say what’s going on with them. We aren’t comfortable with being honest and present.

I want to change that. I want deeper connections. When I tell everyone to connect every day. I mean it. As human beings are we really getting to know the real story?

A good friend of mine always told me, everyone has a story and we don’t know what it is.

Ask questions. Be present. Listen. When you truly listen, the next right question will present itself.

I get to thank a few of the women in our community for sharing their thoughts:

Kathy Fisk Mela You are not the only one who wants a deeper connection. I love asking questions and I love hearing where other people are at, what their stories are. I think it’s important for everyone to know they’re loved they have a purpose and they matter. When we listen we let people know they matter. Thanks Nina for this great message to remind us to ask questions and then be present and listen.

Amber Bachus-Martin Very few things are more important than a connection.

Debbie Bellon Love this Nina! I want to know too. I had a networking event last night and I went in with the mindset that I was there to connect with people and to help not even necessarily with my business, just as a human being. It was wonderful and I did connect and I left fulfilled.

I would love to know your thoughts about being present, asking questions, and getting to the deeper connection.

Am I the only one wants this?

Why?

Do you ever find yourself doing things and not even realizing why you’re doing them? This is my new favorite thing thanks to Jacob Longoria for challenging myself and my friends at our Fab Four retreat. Why are you doing this or that?

You can get into such a routine sometimes you don’t even realize why you’re doing something. That is my challenge to you this week, look at the things that you have on your schedule. Look at the things that you do day in and day out and ask yourself why?

Is it something that you want to continue because you have a burning desire to do it or is it something that you were doing just because it’s become a habit?

I would love to know your thoughts about why. Do you look at your calendar and the things that you are doing and ask why?
