“If you continuously compete with others, you become bitter. But if you continuously compete with yourself, you become better.” –Unknown
To compare is never fair, yes, that’s this week’s message. I bring it to you as I was inspired to open one of my favorite books, “Believe You Can” by John Mason, to a random page only to find this very message.
As always, the message was appropriate as I know many of you are thinking about your goals, aspirations and what you want to do in the new year.
There was a quote by Pat Riley, “Don’t let other people tell you want you want.” We can’t do that. The definition of success is different for each one of us.
The message also said, “No one can build a personal destiny upon the faith and experience of another person. The old saying is true, you have to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather is.”
That’s right, we’re all here for one unique purpose. We are each different. Although we may seem similar we have something special that we are supposed to do. It’s up to you to decide what success looks like, don’t let someone else tell you what you want.
I would love to know your thoughts about comparing. Feel free to email me at email@example.com
