Better or Worse

“Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” –J.M. Barrie

Leave everyone better than you found them, that’s this week’s message.  It comes to you from one of my favorite books, Be Yourself by John Mason. This morning, as I normally do, I picked up a book and I randomly opened it up to a page, Leave Everyone Better Than You Found Them. Naturally this message happens to relate to something that happened this past weekend.

We were moving in my older daughter into her apartment. You pay for the entire month yet don’t get to move in for 3 weeks because they are supposed to clean the apartment from the last residents. I’m not going to get into the details. Needless to say it does not look like anyone cleaned it. The living conditions were less than ideal.

I walked into the office the moment it was opened. I could tell that the woman behind the desk was a little on edge. Maybe I am not the first person who came to her with this situation? At that moment, I choose to leave her better than I found her.

After you have interactions with people, do they feel bigger or smaller? Better or worse? Do they feel faith or fear?

I would love to know your thoughts, are you leaving people better than the way you found them? Feel free to email me at info@ninaobier.com
